Coronavirus – Hungary third country in EU with most fatal incidents
On Tuesday (October 20) 38 Hungarian citizens died because of the coronavirus infection. Regarding the EU data, Hungary is among the middle-rank among European Union countries if we take into consideration the number of new infections and fatal incidents.Â
RTL reported that in the second wave, Hungary is the third country with the lowest number of new infections out of one million citizens. The situation is the best in Germany, while the Czech Republic is in the worst situation. The Hungarian number is below the EU average, and even in Austria and Slovakia more new infections are registered day by day. Hungary follows the strategy of the WHO to count infections and fatal incidents among one million citizens. Concerning the number of deadly incidents, the situation is different.
Hungary is the third among EU countries where most fatal incidents happen.
The Czech Republic also registered a record number of deaths while other countries reporting more new infections have less fatal cases. The Hungarian coronavirus situation became a debatable topic in the Hungarian Parliament this week when left side parties emphasised that the Hungarian Government did not do anything to slow down the spreading of the virus while other EU countries slowly renewed their coronavirus restrictions.Â
Left side parties also stated that Hungary is the second country where the least tests are made.

Seriously, stop putting fear into people’s mind. This ridiculous sickness kills less than hunger, suicide, cancer, heart attacks, brain strokes, tuberculosis!!! Why aren’t you telling people to have a healthier lifestyle?!?!? Do your homework people!!! Peoples lives are being destroyed over fear and ignorant management!
Testing is only half of the equation. Tracing is the other half. The experience of other countries is that apps are not the solution, regional and local tracing teams are the most successful way to identify potentially infected people (a method Germany uses). The tracing numbers should also be transparent, as with the testing regime. But in Hungary, while the (woefully inadequate) testing numbers are released, there does not seem to be any mention of tracing systems.
